Programme for the national public event taking place in Tromsø June 5 and 6, 2012
- 21.00: Start. Stands, activities and competitions outdoor , in Tromsøhallen and on the Science center.
- 22.00-22.15: The programme for the night will be presented.
- 22.30: Pictures from the transit in 2004
- 23.00: The activities for schools
- 23.30: We will have video from special cameras (H-alpha) on the huge video screen and we discuss what we can see there.
- 23.30: The science center is closing
- 23.45: Counting down. We will call observers in different Norwegian locations. What is the status, how is the weather?
- 24.00: The historic day has begun. We will have a picture of the Sun on the video screen (that may happen earlier) and start looking for Venus.
- 00.04: First contact! The transit has begun. We will switch between video from different locations and try to observe the parallax effect.
- 00.22: Second contact. All of Venus is now on the solar disk.
- 00.30-03.30: We will switch between video from different locations in Norway and abroad and will received comments from Svalbard, Vardø and other locations.
- 03.29: The deepest position of Venus on the solar disk.
- 06.36: Third contact. Venus is about to leave the solar disk. Once again we will try to observe the parallax effect.
- 06.54: Fourth and last contact. The last Venus transit in our century is over! Switching between different cameras to demonstrate parallax effect. We will show the last pictures from different locations worldwide.
- 07.00: What happended this historic night?
- 07.15: Video clips from the transit.
- 07.30: End
During the event and the transit there will be many activities and exhibitions in Tromsøhallen and on the fields on Templarheimen!
